Kargil, Jan 25 (KNO): Tableau scheduled to be showcased for the Republic Day parade in New Delhi has triggered a controversy in the Ladakh region with political and religious parties accusing administration of partial representation by ignoring the Muslim's of Kargil.
The Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan is among the prominent people who expressed anguish over the decision of the administration for ignoring the cultural heritage of Muslim domination.
Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Khan said that as Union Territory (UT) it's for the first time in history that Ladakh will have a Tableau of its own in the Republic Day parade but the leadership in Kargil believe there is no equal share of representation done and the religious and cultural heritage has been ignored.
"The entire Ladakh region means Leh and Kargil with all its cultural heritage sites representing both Muslims and Buddhists," Khan said.
"There is uncertainty among the leadership in Kargil that for the first time a separate tableau to be showcased in New Delhi has no visual mention/ representation from Kargil be it religious or cultural heritage," he said.
The CEC said almost all the prominent organizations in Kargil have protested against it stating that both the Leh and Kargil districts should have equal projected representation.
"Isna campus here has decided to celebrate Republic Day voluntarily as a mark of protest against the partial visual representation," he said.
Meanwhile, a senior member of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), Haji Mohammad Hanifa Jan in a letter to the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh has expressed dissatisfaction over the tableau and objection over the administration's policies towards Kargil.
Anjuman-E-Sahib Zaman, in the letter, has also termed it unfortunate and alleged that the administration has again tried to sabotage the age-old communal harmony of Ladakh.
"By ignoring the socio-cultural of Kargil in the overall development of Ladakh the administration has rather discredited the religious harmony and has tried to sow the seeds of conflict and confrontation in our society. This is not acceptable to us. Anjuman-E-Sahib Zaman condemn such nefarious actions of the administration," the letter read—(KNO)
